“Bone Remodeling” “Wolff’s Law” - academic words misused by the #orthotropic apologists to argue that non-invasive and inexpensive methods can grow the jaw.
Unfortunately this “jaw hacking” is too good to be true. Aside from skeletally-anchored appliances like MARPE/MSE (which has a high failure rate used alone without surgery) it is impossible for any devices like AGGA or Homeoblock to EVER grow skeletal bone OR alveolar bone in any relevant time frame. The same goes for #mewing (more on that below.)
Only DENTAL movement is possible (different than SKELETAL movement) in the adult or late teenager by non surgical methods. Dental movement needs to be S-L-O-W for tooth roots to move gently while ALVEOLAR bone remodels around the teeth. (why full braces and invasalign are usually for 1+ years)
There are crazed online communities obsessed with airway and jaw function (The Great Work, other health nut pages run by wackos.) I’m not sure if they are just mentally ill or looking for some seemingly dignified alternative to the looksmax community disguising their pursuit of aesthetics as a pursuit of function. I hear it’s taboo to mention aesthetics without overstating your functional motive in these discord & Facebook groups.
Mewing is just good posture - NOT a treatment. In fact some people will need surgical and orthodontic treatment IN ORDER to mew properly (see my highlighted story on Oral Volume.) Mewing acts as a counterforce to the cheek muscles which prevents orthodontic relapse (see my highlighted story for the facts on mewing.)
One of the most obvious explanations for the popularity of these useless methods is the cost. Surgery is expensive, I get it. It costs a pretty penny to execute a safe, clean surgery. Start saving and budgeting your finances for surgery instead of wasting years of your life on every alternative for no results in the end.
Some people are afraid of surgery because they don’t like pain or risk of complications. Look at the gruesome results of the “minimally invasive” quack alternative!
This community and some of its cult leaders have needed to get real for a long time!! I’m so glad to see #AGGA exposed in the mainstream media for the cope it is 
I’m dumbfounded by the desperate search for surgical replacement with appliances like AGGA, FacePuller/FaceBow and techniques like thumbpulling, bone smashing.
