AI has ruined social media for me

I joined Instagram in 2016 to post pictures and connect with friends and acquaintances. Over the past decade the platform has now come to a total ruin.

I still remember the launching of “a 24hr story” feature on Instagram used to be a big thing in the Big 2016. Then fast forward to 2020 and we’ve seen IG competing with TikTok with the introduction of “reels” (what a stupid ass feature I had thought then). But still until 2020 posting pics of your Sunday brunch, unnecessary bloopers were all normal. This era of social media felt very ‘human’ and ‘natural’, not some make believe bs.

Fast forward to now, real social media posting within private group circles is declining especially due to AI slop. I myself hesitate to post legitimate pics I have taken with celebrities, expensive foreign tours and heck, even my own cars because I’m afraid if I post anything too hard to believe it might come off as AI. Some fools in my following, I legit thought they’ve looksmaxxed and ascended looking at their pfps but I see them irl and shieeet they are just the same. Al slop for morphing oneself at it again. Fuck this shit. I should have posted my pics before 2024.

That’s a pain in the ahh but for bots atleast you’ll know that these are bots and ignore them in the comment section or whatever.

It isn’t even as close to AI. AI mimics content which we wish to see apparently is fully artificially generated. Many stuff I had liked before had to unlike because only later on I realised that it’s AI.

In a heavy brain rot consumer base such as this people like me have withdrawn posting oneself because like I already said, I’m afraid anything too good to be true be seen as AI.
