It's just a symptom and a form of self-medication (like almost any drug). No wonder it's so hard to "cure" and most people relapse.

The current knowledge about disease and the healthcare system are so backwards... Never asking the relevant questions: "Why do people drink? Why do they take drugs? Why do they keep doing it despite knowing it's bad for them?"

Fucking healthcare mafia making shekels out of the misery of the suffering. "Oh, you're an addict - let me prescribe you a different drug to 'treat' your problem so I can spend your hard-earned money on my annual luxury trip to Venice (to get fucked up myself)". Hypocrisy at its finest

and it's a shit drug at that. fine line between feeling good and depressive and then dealing with hangovers makes drinking feel like a chore sometimes

You're lucky. I never get hangovers. I finish a fifth of vodka + a case of beer within a few hours without experiencing any physical side effects except for getting tired. I only get dizzy when I smoke a lot while drinking, but that has lessened a lot as my tolerance increased.

Alcohol flips a switch in my brain like no other substance and when I'm sober, I'm just dead inside with no motivation to do anything. I'm not physically dependent on it as I can go days without a drink without tremors, night sweats etc. but mentally, I don't function at all without it. It's purely psychological

Amphetamines are commonly prescribed for ADHD, so it doesn't surprise me. How do you deal with tolerance tho?

Forgot to mention that they have sex but yh that’s true

monkeys also go batshit when you put them in a cage isolated from others

Lol @ humans thinking they are so great and smart

This is literally me, i always smoke way more cigarettes and feel more addicted to stimulants when living a completly isolated life, like right now compared to a year ago when i was going to uni with other people my age all the time

There is a reason why you drink, there is a cause and it’s effect is that you feel the need to resort to alcoholism.

There are a lot of ways to heal from that cause, alcoholism is none of it, it’s just escaping.

I swear I'm so retardedly high inhibition and anxious that the first two or three drinks literally just make me a normal fucking person lmao. I definitely need to drink most days.

Luckily I hate the feeling of being super drunk so I'm good with just a couple drinks like two or three, occasionally 4. But 2 is the max recommended daily amount for men so even im overdrinking

You're me back in 2019 when I only had a couple of beers a day and that was enough to function. Unfortunately, my tolerance has skyrocketed and I need at least half a bottle of vodka to get a weak buzz and a fifh to feel normal. Back then, I used minoxidil and I suppose it kept my alcohol tolerance low. I'm amazed when people, even log-term physically-dependent alcoholics, have a lower tolerance than I do. I gained weight from drinking alone, despite eating one meal every 1-2 days
