Good point about suicides distorting gun death stats. Even I tend to forget that one. I think 30% of the reported US gun deaths are just suicides.

Strict gun laws don't mean anything when you can drive 10 miles over to the next city and buy guns. Also, even if gun deaths are inflated by suicides, homicides in the US are way higher than other Western Countries and even London a city that is known to be violent has a lower homicide rate than pretty much every major US city by a significant margin.

Nah, we still have gangs and cartels with guns (illegally or illegitimately obtained) and black markets, and with actually no one law-abiding citizen with a practical self-defense quick and easy, means it's easier for them to control the citizen populace.


Terrorists would find it easier to commit their acts of terror, for example, without the obstacle of gun liberty being confronted by citizens, and without that obstacle, would mean more deaths.


Government tyranny would be in a position of uneasiness considering that the people aren't in a pussy move of submission and would strike back with vigor. Besides, the government staff and workers have citizen families and makes it a hesitant factor of not fighting/killing back, amplified by guns.
