Altough the definition of good and bad is arbitrary and changes with cultural norms it's naive to say there is no such thing. Even tho different social paradigms have different definitions of what is ethical and moral doesn't mean that morals don't exist.

We definitely put a lot of weight on "morals" in western society tho, we always have. Since it's impossible to control everybody societies uses guilt to get people in line, i.e. if you act immorally you will be sent to hell by God who is conveniently always watching.
