I recently went down a rabbit hole of people claiming their religious scriptures predicted major future events. But it all goes on like this a big event makes the news and suddenly someone pulls out a vague, poetic or abstract verse and twists it to fit the narrative βHahaha Look My holy book totally predicted this Follow my religionβ
It's basically interpretation in restrospect. These verses are often so open ended that you could apply them to almost anything if you're determined enough. It's less about prophecy and more about pattern matching mixed with a strong dose of confirmation bias not mych different than thr logic used by horoscopes make it vague enough, and people will find meaning that suits their current situation.
