Yeah, Kagemusha's story imo personally was a little lacking but it was a visual masterpiece to behold in terms of the sheer scale of all the horses (Kurosawa had to import tons of horses from the US just for this movie alone), the amount of people involved, the scale of the battles, the scenery, the locations used(actual Japanese castles from that era), the vibrant colors and costumes, etc worth it just off of those things alone. Very powerful stuff.
