Graduated with a worthless business degree and been working sales chud jobs for the past 2 years

I am able to fraud my past experience as being in a basic sysadmin role because I'm friends with my last hiring manager, and was planning on getting network+ and some security certs to fraud networking experience and skip over doing the helpdesk-> sysadmin route.

But lately I've been seeing more people saying IT is just as cooked as CS, plus Elon Musk is pressuring Trump to import more jeets which just means even less job opportunities (and a higher chance of working for managers who were imported from the darkest slums of Uttar Pradesh)

I'm hoping that people are just exaggerating but it's starting to feel like every opportunity to make money is going away :ogre:

So is getting a buisness degree worth it:forcedsmile:

Only if you can get good internships. I went to a state school that didn't give a shit about its students so the only internship I could get was messing with Salesforce at a shitty nonprofit.

Also your option makes a difference as well, doing something that involves hard skills like accounting, finance, logistic, IT etc are much better than things like management or sports marketing

I’m trying to either do investment banking or private equity, what are you gonna do next?

Boring af course with tons of material to learn, you need to be passionate about computing to pursue it

I have been hearing this but idk tbh. I have been seeing job chances for it, even with me only having experience through a part-time gig in college. My current plan is to use the military to get skills for IT and then later on just get a higher manager government position during IT type shit.

Have heard also that if you are passionate and WANT to understand/get better, you can go places with it. Otherwise, if it's just money or you want something low skill, you are going to be on the level of outsourced jeets and therefore be priced out of a job.

We would need crazy H1B changes to change anything in the tech market, probably not gonna happen.

If you like CS a lot, or if you are too ugly for other jobs then do it. Or maybe if you want to work in tech but not in software engineering.

It's a scam ran by education system and course sellers that software engineering is exceptionally good for making money, but I would say effort/reward ratio is average and might become bad in the future.

You need other strong reason besides money to do CS successfully.

CS is probably the ME for this generation

I was promised £30k grad salary and £80k after a couple years.

Now I’m paid £40k with 4yoe and no possibility to increase it.

AND the pound lost about 25% of its value.

Do fucking trades or regret it.

Yeah, CS is overrated. Trades underrated.

I told my nephews (15-16 years old) that they should do trades and they got offended, their parents heard what I said and told me to never tell such downgrading things to their kids again.

To be honest ignoring the sunk cost I still make more per hour than I would have done in trades. It’s the fucking 5 year sunk cost and 20% yoy inflation that makes it agony.

Well, me too, but I made a lot of money during tech boom, but tech booms might not happen again. And now I'm unemployed for 1 year so whatever.

I never got to make a lot of money, only got 180k net worth at 31 and a lot of that is going on surgery.

Not the life I was promised. Not even close.

I take back "I made a lot of money" lol.

I have 100k at 31 (already paid 10k for rhino) but revision rhino and trimax and I'm broke lol after so much studying after work and on weekends.

(I'm from Eastern Europe, I was making 75k EUR during 2022-2023, and before that I was making scraps 20-30k eur or something)

I never made more than 40k, I just got lucky on Bitcoin for the most part.

75k is great for EE. What exactly are you studying for? The one saving grace of my job is I literally don’t have to do anything except show up.

Mostly backend for simple CRUD apps. I was basically making scraps 20-30k until crypto companies started offering remote jobs 70k for average developers in 2021-2022. Ofcourse now most of these companies are bankrupt.

But I couldn't repeat it in current market. Now I'm unemployed and noone's hiring me for 70k, I'll need to get lowballed.

What’s your motivation not to just take 100k and as many loans and credit cards as you can get and go out like a shooting star Zyzz style? You’re the same age as me and it’s a question I keep asking myself.

I'm disincentivized by CS labour market, but I'll wait for planned trimax, maybe rhino revision, maybe hair transplant and decide afterwards.

Btw why can’t you get roles paying more than 40k? Do they genuinely not exist in your field unless you are very senior?

I think it's not even about being senior.

I think it's more about combination of having degree from top university, getting good internships at the beginning of career, work experience in prestige companies, maybe networking and nepotism.

40k is probably average for someone with his years of experience and after a couple more years average person would maybe make 60k. Those are just averages.

Do you really think it’s gonna do anything at this age? I feel it’s just a final cope to procrastinate the end.

Unless you’re very senior it’s not happening. It’s a shrinking industry that’s still flooded with new grads. Though they’ll probably dry up fairly soon.

Unfortunately despite perfect grades I went to a shit university (predeterminism again) so there’s no networking or nepotism to save me.

Idk. I work in tech. Don’t have a very impressive CV or anything like that. But I get interest from recruiters. I think OP lives in a place with very few opportunities. Also, ME doesn’t pay that well in the UK.

Definitely not optimal age to get these things done but still need to try.

UK London.

But I have been working at a very well known company since last year. And my sub field has not been as impacted by the general tech downturn.

It was mostly quiet for me for most of 2024. Then I started getting 2-3 messages a week towards the end of the year: I expect it to ramp up to 5 messages a week this year.

At 31 it’s basically over anyway, there’s no real future.
Foids expect you to be a millionaire at this age.
So just take the little money you have and enjoy a couple years of hedonism before facing reality and a bullet.

You were never incel though. Why not find some white Becky for an LTR? You have already slayed.

I see lots of people who went to shit unis and ascended in their careers.

Oh c’mon. Maybe the Stacy level foids do. But the average Becky… I doubt it

1. I won’t accept some slut for LTR. This brings nothing to my life.

2. To be honest my job is so easy anyone could do it

3. It’s too late, fine if you are in your 20s but I should be a VP by now at least.

Even the average Becky can get an income higher than my pay check on seeking arrangement or onlyfans. That’s what wealth concentration has done and why looks are truly all that matters now.

I got some messages last week too but I thought they were just trying to hit their yearly goals for CV farming.

How much are you making in UK London and what is salary cap for seniors in your company?

Nah. Many of them are legit. I’d say half are legit. Half fake. A lot of them are quite senior so chances are I would get passed over. But it’s a positive sign the market is getting better

40k gbp. No seniors. But leads make 60k. Principals make 100k. Company doesn’t pay that well so I’ll probably switch this year.

You have to understand that London is a hub for tech jobs and white collar work in general. The caveat is that the cost of living is much higher than in other parts of the country.

The fact that you have been unemployed for a year is a big issue. You would have been in a great position if you took some lowball offer and stayed until the market got better

I could have stayed and worked for 75k. I was not fired. But I don't want to work for that little money.

Neither do I want to work for companies who heavily rely on ATS or recruiters minding about career gaps. They probably pay poor anyways.

55k eur is like average diversity hire salary where I live. Any woman or chadlite with minimal skills can make this much in tech.

What am I going to buy with 75k eur? I have enough money for NEET and surgeries until market recovers.

Lithuania. Yeah they finish math, cs or physics degree. Work for a couple years for 30k and then switch company once or twice with pretty much tech basics and behavioral tech interview and get 55k eur.

Same story for most of my htn+ and tech foids that I know.

I heard the povertycel cutoff in Vilnius is 30k

I wanted to go into security but it seems like cloud is the move if you want to work remote and the azure certs seem easy

No, because IT doesn’t require a degree, but you will have to start at the bottom and work your way up.
