Am i the only who thinks that having a pet is not fun

As a kid i thought it was cool but as an adult i dont see the appeal . You are just wasting your money on something that wakes up middle of the night and will eventually die and you will be very attached to that animal .

I don't get attached to animals at all

I have had a half dozen dogs in my life. When my current dog dies, she is 8 years old, I am not getting another dog. It is just too much work vacuuming up her hair and keeping track of her. And she prevents me from traveling anywhere for more than a week at a time. There are long term boarding places, but she freaks out if she does not see me for more than about 5 days at a time, and at like $50/day they can add a lot to the costs of a long trip. And veterinary medicine has become mostly a scam, charging big bucks for annual shots and other services.
