this is the most depressing film I think I've ever seen.
first of all there is almost no plot, it could be summarised as this. Kevin Spacey likes his daughter's hot friend but does nothing with her, then gets killed by the Army guy next door who wrongly thinks Spacey is gay for his drug dealing son. this spans over 2 hours.
there is not one likeable character in this film. the lead is a manchild who shirks all responsibility,
his AWFL wife is a failing realtor and social climber
the daughter is nihilistic and has no respect for anything and her friend's life ambition is to be a slut.
a lot of it feels forced, such as the unnecessary homosexuality of the Colonel just to force the meme that "hurr durr homophobes r secretly gay", and the wife cheating just to rub in the punishment of Spacey's character even more.
the entire thing is born out of the (jewish) director's utter hatred for decent society: if a guy is married and has a family he must be miserable, if your daughter goes to school she'll either be a slut or date a drug dealer, if you are a strong man (the Colonel) you must be a secret fag and your son will be mental.
The entire film just feels hateful.
