The argument of pascals wager is that from a game theory perspective, you have more to gain in believing in an Abrahamic faith than not believing in one. Essentially if it's wrong you lose nothing but if it's right, you gain everything. Now the problem is there is no real proof that these things are correct so it is fundamentally the same as creating a random belief yourself and following it.

legit, the infinte negative payoff could be for believing in the wrong god or even any god at all

the payoff allocation in the wager is arbitrary

Legit, me too. I wish I could believe in this stuff with the conviction people do. Muslims honestly seem so happy. There is just no relief from the existential dread that non-believers experience. You can try to cover it up with worldly delights but its always a nagging feeling in the back of your mind. I literally think I will eventually go insane from this. @Bojack

jfl at trying to use rational thought to make sense of spirituality.

religion is for the untermensch, and it is cope.

But the Abrahamic faith does have some basis in reality whereas if I just said I believe in a log of shit filled with corn that makes all my wishes come true, would make 0 sense and have no credibility whatsoever

you need genuine faith to qualify, so the pascal's wager type of belief doesn't even meet the minimum requirement for salvation. if christianity is real, pascal is getting raped by the devil this moment lol

Believing in the one true and real God is not a random belief!

Pascal wager is utter shit and Pascal was a retard but you all didn't even understand what Pascal wager is. It was less an argument for God. But more about convincing believing people to be more obedient in their practice and stop chasing worldly pleasure.

A lot of popular Muslim youtubers use this as an argument to promote their faith.

It's not really the same because Christianity is 2000 years old and has been followed by many high iq men in the past.

Agreed with this. Islam has historically always spread through Sufism and mysticism, not convincing people with reason. I see many 'dawah' YouTubers doing this.

The classical Muslims who used rational thought did so in order to better understand their religion and defend it against others. Islam has a long battle between the relative weights of reason and faith and none of it seemed to be dawah-based and trying to convert people en masse since many were religious anyway. Most people today are no different to people in the past, they still have that primordial sense of faith, it's ripped apart by the modern godless world and we're instead coping with many other worldly pleasures which need constant attention to fulfill us until we're old and on our deathbed.

Ironically sufism is the most logically sound interpretation of islam.
