An Essay on the Water You Drink

TLDR - Regardless of whether you have a Reverse Osmosis Filter in your home, the water you drink is not good for you.

BEFORE YOU READ NOTE THAT STUDIES ARE MENTIONED BY NUMBER INDICATED IN A BRACKET. THEY WILL BE REFERENCED IN A SEPARATE SECTION.

INTRODUCTION
  • Reverse osmosis (RO) filters work by using a semipermeable membrane to remove contaminants from water. The process relies on applying pressure to push water through the membrane, allowing only pure water molecules to pass while blocking dissolved solids, bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, and other impurities
  • There has been a debate raging on within the scientific community about the use of Reverse Osmosis Filters to remove contaminants from water
  • On one hand, they are very useful for removing PFAS (Polyfluoroalkyl substances) and other dangerous contaminants from the water
  • On the other hand they create enormous wastage of water because of the inherent mechanism. Another huge disadvantage is that they also remove useful minerals like calcium and magnesium from water. These filters are unbiased unlike us

THE ADVOCACY FOR RO FILTERS
  • The main concern that brings me to support RO Filters are the fact that it removes two of the biggest concerning substances of the modern world, PFAS and microplastics. These substances are the "leaded petrol" of today's world. Those who have studied American history carefully would know what I am talking about. (1) (2)
  • Another advantage of RO Filters advantage is that it is very effective for desalinating from high salinity sources. This especially useful for areas that do not have easy access to desalinated water. (3) (4)

THE ADVOCACY AGAINST RO FILTERS
  • One of the biggest critiques of RO Filters are that they do not discriminate. They are effective at removing everything they have capacity to remove. That means they can also remove all the important minerals that your body needs. Calcium and magnesium are the most studied examples since they are so important for the body
  • The calcium and magnesium present in water are highly bioavailable. More so than the same present in food. This because they are present in the form of ions and thus are can be easily absorbed by the digestive tract. Simply put the more these minerals are in you water the less you have to fulfill the requirements for them through dietary sources.
  • Hard water containing calcium and magnesium has been linked to lower rates of cardiovascular disease and lower incidence of sudden cardiac arrest. (5) (6)
  • Since Mg and Ca ions are bigger than the semi permeable membranes used in RO Filters, they are removed very easily. (7)

THE RESULT [ YOU ARE SCREWED ]
  • If you have read through this post, you may wonder what is the point of it all ? The point is that whatever you do you expose yourself youself to adverse health outcomes in the long run
  • If you choose to use RO Filters, you will have to rely on dietary sources of nutrition to fulfill your mineral quota. But it is not so easy since it has been found that nutrients have been decreasing in the food that we eat. Ergo the conclusion is that you will have to rely on supplements and medicine to fulfill your quota. If you do not you epxose yourself to the risk of cardiovascular dieseases
  • If on the other hand you choose to not use RO Filters because of whatever reason, congratulations you are fucked again. Not using RO Filters means you expose yourself to whole host of contaminants ranging from parasites and bacteria to heavy metals like lead and arsenic. All these contaminants can moderately increase your risk of a serious disease especially if you are old
  • You also increase your exposure to microplastics and PFAS. Only PFAS has been linked with cancer. Microplastics are so ubiquitous that researchers cannot find a group without it inside their body to conduct a double blind study. This may not seem scary at first, but it will seem scary when you come to know of the limited studies that do have been conducted on the effect of microplastics
  • For example one study found that patients with dementia had significantly more amount of microplastics in their brain than those who did not suffer the affliction. (8)
THE CONCLUSION
  • If you choose to use RO Filters you are moderately exposing yourself to the risk of adverse health outcomes
  • If you choose to not use RO Filters you moderately expose yourself to adverse health outcomes
  • "Oh but look he used the word moderately surely it won't happen to me". No I cannot guarantee that it will happen to you. But what I can guarantee is that out of this userbase there will be a non trivial amount of people who will develop a serious disease and the water they drink will be a contributing factor

It is sad stuff sir. We are being forced to breathe and ingest contaminants because of industrialisation

When brushing your teeth, you use toothpaste with fluoride, correct? Well, that fluroide seeps into your blood because the toothpaste is inside your fucking mouth. Anything you put inside your fucking mouth will seep into your bloodline... except pussy juices. Or male semen, like in many Looksmax users' cases.

Anyway, removing fluride from water makes no fucking sense whatsoever. Or unless, the elites are planning to remove it from toothpaste next. Ugh. If that's the plan, Stan, then that means 99% of future males will have rotten teeth while the one percent have handsome godly smiles.

This is not only about fluorides sir. It is about all the contaminants. I do not agree that fluorides must be removed. But the RO Filter does remove them which is my argument. I think you should read the post fully to get my sentiment. I am not urging users to not drink water. Nor am I urging them towards any one solution or the other. I am merely pointing out my observations.

Every aspect of this alien world is dangerous. Nature can be poisonous. An itty bitty tiny insect can remove your fucking fragile ass off this planet in a heartbeat. Everything comes with risk. At one time, we were drinking from nature's waterholes; parasites and all. However, we were stronger folks back then. Our immune systems weren't as fragile as they are today. In a broader aspect, it seems that we can't stop fucking ourselves. When we try to defy this dangerous world, it comes back later to fuck our asses up into oblivion.

If you're thirsty, drink the fucking water and shut the fuck up!

Did any of "your people" listen in on my conversation about Val Kilmer last Saturday? Usually, I don't do that around phones. But it wasn't that I called it, but it is what it is. I have no listening devices. But I am A-W-A-R-E. Especially when HE passes through to collect.

Nice thread but
What's the bioavailability of both in water? I could find it's about 50% approximately for both. And now if we take the major dietary sources of both (I'll take milk eggs for calcium, for magnesium it's a little hard but nuts have alot afaik,i gotta look more into it tho),1L milk+6 eggs alone make about 1200 calcium. Mind you these obv won't be the only sources you consume. And even magnesium you can get from various sources with food itself. This makes the choice quite clear jfl, would you rather have microplastics in your body? Or would you have clean water+a good diet to fulfill nutritional needs.

Nigger shit got posted twice. So I'll add more that from what I could find, milk has approx 40% bioavailability for calcium, and for both calcium and magnesium there top main sources all have 30-40% bioavailability so not a huge diff

But you should also consider that dietary sources have been declining in nutrient and mineral content since a long time. We do not get the require nutrients and minerals from food anu longer. Also this post was for normal people who most likely have a shit diet from a sgit source. If you actually care you can mitigate the consequences posted here

But a significant portion of people can be lactose intolerant. So their options for milk again are restricted to processed milk for their condition. Also I do not think anyone here consumes milk that much. Apart from bioavailability we must also look at the abundance. I must check whether water has more abundance or milk
