In my opinion, the most underrated bone that determines lower third height has to be the alveolar bone.
What is the alveolar bone? The alveolar bone is a narrow but thick bone connected to the superior maxilla that is fused by two separate bones and the inferior mandible that has pockets known as the dental alveoli that hooks the tooth roots.
Why is the alveolar bone so important? The alveolar bone is responsible for the foundation and structure of the teeth while also being the support for lips and determining the vertical height dimension for the lower third
How can we stimulate alveolar bone growth? By chewing hard foods, increasing tooth density by 20-30% and also applying orthopedic devices such as a twin block and dentoalveolar extrusion
