I made this thread only for your core understanding becouse i see many users here wanting to learn stuff
So here is how you understand how to train each muscle
You look at its anatomy chart
First. you have to understand that movements are built by joints
there are many joints in the body but there are 5 important ones
1. Shoulder
2. Elbow
3. Hip
4. Knee
5. Ankle
Second. Every movement is made out of joint doing thier movements which all have their anatomical names
I will not elaborate on each but there are:
Extension
Flexion
Abduction
Adduction
Horizontal abduction
Horizontal adduction
Dorsiflexion
Planterflexion
Pronation
supination
Etc...
every joint has its movements and these names aren't universal for one joint
Compound movements work with more than 1 joint
Isolation movements work with a singular joint
Third. you look at a muscle anatomy chart
for example the bicep brachii or front arm
this muscle's main movement is: Elbow Flexion
which means that you lower the angle between your humerus, radial and ulna like you want to squeeze an apple between your arm and forearm
you see this if you look at the chart and where the muscle is shortened it's that simple
shortened = worked
lengthened = stretched
Now guess the movement of the Pectoralis major (Chest)
I want you to critically think what movement in what joint shortens it
rules to know:
Muscles work in the joint they are connected to
It matters whether it's the origin or insertion
Different parts of a muscle work better in a variation where they are shortened more
Muscles have multiple movements
Spoiler: It's shoulder horizantal adduction or the movement in flies, there is a reason why you should remember these terms
peace
Call me a nerd all you want but i make better gains my physique is only after 2 months of taking things seriously, I weighd 67 kilos and now i wiegh 73 while maintaining my abs, there is no problem with being a nerd
