Im from northern Italy, ive met sicilian people online and in person but I would need to take a trip there to actually give an answer.
Aside from most people being shorter and with darker skin tones (it mostly depends on the season, look at brazilian people for example), its not unusual to see people with pale skin, blue/green eyes, blonde hair, etc.
My grandmother came from the deep south and had green eyes, not sure what her natural hair color was

Nar they prob had been better off hell id say if Europeans traded with them it would had made at least west and western coastal central Africa better but we were already having our issues in west Africa with civil wars and shit.

Central Africa would had seen the biggest boons if the Portuguese were not conniving Jews

Only reason why the transatlantic slave trade was so big was because Europeans had the means and resources to carry it, its neither worse or better than any other slave trade that happened in history.
