The field is far from being over saturated, it's in high demand around the world, so it's possible to get hired in another country after getting enough work experience at a good local company. STEM mogs the liberal arts so much, you should read some Aaron Clarey books.

Not everyone can succeed in STEM and surely those who can aren't necessarily going to be able to succeed in CS. Your advice is shit because it implies there's a one-size-fits-all solution but in reality you know nothing about OP's situation.

That’s because you haven’t been asking him to do it enough. What are you expecting? Him to make a sudden initiative after 9 years of nothing? If anything is going to happen it has to come from you.

Keep asking him to take you on a drive everyday, show him you really want it and care about getting the license.

Computer science is not for geniuses, anyone who has an average IQ and works hard can succeed in that field and get their bachelor's degree in computer science. If they don't like CS, they can pick another STEM field that is either as good or better, there are many.

If you pick a liberal arts degree though, it's a waste because there are no jobs and the pay is low.
