It was time again for my yearly blackpill that just drains the life out of me: vacation with my friend group.
One of the guys is 6'6", HTN, giga rich. His family has so much money he literally never has to work if he doesn't want to. The only reason he even has a high-paying job is because of his father's connections.
The funny part is that his character is actually pretty shit, especially when he's drunk. This trip he just started relentlessly bullying one of our friends who's fat as fuck. Just insult after insult for like an hour. Next morning it was just "yeah, sorry bro," and literally nobody cared anymore.
If I had done even 5% of what he did, I'd be socially executed by this friend group.
Yet his status is completely untouchable. Whenever he starts talking, everyone else shuts up. Everyone waits for his opinion on where we're eating, what we're doing, basically everything. He dominates every room despite honestly not even being that likable.
Then there are the endless stories about women. Apparently he's fucked well over 100 girls with basically zero effort. Everything in life just fell into place for him.
The worst part when you're blackpilled is you can't unsee all the status cues anymore. Who interrupts who. Who gets listened to. Who everyone looks at before making a decision. Who can get away with almost anything because of who they are.
And let's be real: being 6'6" with a broad frame is a massive part of it. Add insane wealth, connections, confidence, and it's basically over before the interaction even starts.
It's crazy watching someone with objectively worse behavior receive infinitely more social grace than someone lower on the hierarchy ever would. Same actions, completely different consequences depending on who's doing them.
After seeing this play out year after year, it's getting harder and harder to believe people judge behavior nearly as much as they judge status first.
