For hair metal (that is what i consider GnR even though they partially larped as old school rock and roll a la Rolling Stones) I would say Dokken is infinitely better, even Ratt is better. Overall the best musicians are typically not gl, people just listen to worse music made by better looking people bc water is wet.

and axl rose is not just some pretty boy his vocal range is INSANE not only can he hit ultra high/low notes but he does it extremly loud and can sing with many different voices the distortion sounds amazing
sweet child o mine, welcome to the jungle are some of the greatest songs ever made paradise city, patience, you could be mine, november rain, its so easy, estranged, dont cry, knocking on heavens door,
queen and elton john are some of the only other ones with that many hit songs
but i like scorpion more than ratt tbh motley crue is good too
