If god needed a custodian to take care of this Earth, he would not make us like we are. Our brains are still hardwired to pursue selfish, short term interest instead of long term benefit.

The more I read about Human psychology and politics, the more I realize how flawed we are as creatures, and that this will never change. Even after thousands of years of "civilization", the average person is still little better at decision making than an animal, we still make decisions based on whether it feels good or not. This is a problem because we usually only pay attention to what makes us feel good in the moment, instead of what will make us feel good later on. We are nothing but slaves to our emotions and short term desires, millions of years of evolution and survival in the wild, forced our ancestors to make quick decisions and react to what makes them feel best now, instead of tomorrow. Necessary, but it is now nothing but a chain on modern Humans. Trying to break free from that chain is the greatest journey a Human Being can make.

all the so called flawed u mentioned are not present in monks and hermits who work on to destroy their vain desires through methods like fasting, meditation, self restraning etc.

Yes, but even they will succumb to temptation and desire every once in a while, it is not bad. That's why trying to free yourself from your emotions and desires is a journey, and one that will never be completed.

Additionally, for every monk who practices self control, there will be a thousand regular joes who won't.

I don't get the answer to q1

Frankly, the reason doesn't really matter or what we think of it. We, as people who believe in God must do as told and that's end of the story. This is my approach.
