antegonial notch assymetry

why is it that some people have a antegonial notch on one side of the jaw and not on the other?

i theorize its due to one jaw being more downgrown than the other but i'm not sure

yo i have this, makes the side that has more prominent notch look more sharp and flared but also a bit longer. i dont mind this asymmetry too much but sometimes i notice it in photos. Also i would rather not have any notch at all on neither side cuz my ramus is already pretty long like 5,5cm and the notch makes it look even longer

this would make sense, a friend of mine has this very case and the jaw side with a more prominent antegonial notch has more downgrowth than the other
