Overall doesn't really matter, but if you're looking for a really aesthetic high PSL profile its a failo.

I have it on my right side and it’s a failo in my opinion. It’s not a huge failo but straighter is ideal.

narrow mid mandible can make chin and gonions look bigger

not sure if it’s ideal

is this even antegonial notch?

Why does everyone think its a failo. Its a male dimorphic trait

Antegonial notch is a major halo for creating trapezoid mogger lower third. Source: I have one too

Makes gonions look more flared and chin look bigger

why is it a considered a failo

it’s a dimorphic trait too

People mistake it for a downward grown face

If it's caused by downward growth, it's actually the poor mandible that is causing the failo, not the notch itself.

If you have a non downward grown mandible, It's basically a cheat code for flared gonion look

It’s aesthetic as fuck. One of my few halos imo

Brutal I got both downward growth (126 degree gonial angle) and an antegonial notch. This is why my lower third looks horse face tier🥲

What causes that look though? Does a tall chin contribute?

Here's a 1 second morph I did of Somerhalder with a shorter chin and it loses the antegonial notch/trapezoid jaw look

Because an antegonial notch is very often the consequence of downward growth and come with high gonial angles (and using the male dimorphic trait argument is borderline retarded, long philtrum is also a male dimorphic trait).

If it's not the case then it can look pretty aesthetic especially if it's not paired with a very high gonial angle :

its not retarded, males have longer philtrums. Longer philtrum is a male dimorphic trait, not only long philtrums. Obviously it needs to be within the average male values to be considered ideal. Still should be longer than females. Ogre proportions arent ideal that i know.

I need to study more on gonial angles though because this sites perception of ideal is too low imo.

For front – antegonial notch is ideal if you want the bicycle seat jaw effect. For side profile – a straight jaw is usually ideal. Overall a slight antegonial notch makes your jaw more angular, and your jaw will at least look straight from the side in some lighting.

Long philtrum is predominantly found among mens, this is a male dimorphic trait, you are playing with semantic here, the fact that mens have taller chin on average than women doesn't change the fact that by itself a very tall chin (lundgren-tier for instance) is a male dimorphic trait since this trait is found predominantly among mens.

What i was pointing out is that a lot of dimorphic features are good from a evolutionary standpoint (otherwise they wouldn't be there and be so common among other species (e.g chimps have long philtrums) i guess) but not from a aesthetic one, and thus using this argument to show if one trait is a halo/failo is not the most pertinent argument (especially when talking about masculine features, a very feminine looking girl will always be infinitely more aesthetic than a very masculine looking man).

As for the gonial angle most people here seems to agree that sub 105 looks like utter shit most of the time unless very tall ramus (except some autists).
115-120 seems to be the most aesthetic measurement from what i've seen, although slightly higher or lower is still fine, the main problem with too low gonial is that unless giga tall ramus you will often end up with a short chin which is a death sentence.

@User49 tbh you were right, it looks good.
