topical steroids worked really well for me and my skin’s been clear for a while, but the treatment’s coming to an end soon.
i’m worried the seb derm will just come back once i stop using it, which is honestly pissing me off.
anyone know of any alternate creams or stuff that helps keep it under control long term?

and im talking like some fast solution , like not just lifestyle change , cause my face just turns red af and irritated like i got sunburns 24/7

Steroids just paused it. The fungus is still there.

Rotate antifungals. Ketoconazole (Nizoral) most days. Ciclopirox or Selenium Sulfide when it stops working.

Use MCT (C8) oil as moisturizer. Feeds your skin, starves the fungus.

That's the protocol. Research it.

yeah he's retarded. use nizoral, it's made for this, start 2x week 1st month, then maintain at 1x week
oh my god , finally someone recommending an actual product , thanks

and btw , does it also work for sebderm on the face ? i mean my symptoms is that it just turns red as hell and barely some flaking worst case scenario , i mean my face is clear for now but i dont think using topical steroids for life is a good idea

so basically the main issue is the "fungus" ?

Yes. Malassezia yeast. It feeds on the oils on your skin. The entire problem is it overgrows and your skin overreacts to it. Kill the fungus. Don't feed it.

you can kill the fungus continually. or use isotretinoin to permanently reduce the sebum production and get rid of it that way or at least minimize it

Would you recommend me getting ketoconazole creams ? like some are 2% , or is that too much ?

its just mild and kind of an aesthetic issue i would say , not really severe , but its kinda chronic since i got the issue for a year now or so
well isotretinoin could really help you tbh. ask about it during your next checkup

Yes. 2% is the standard. Start it now, while you're still using the steroid. The goal is to have the antifungal already controlling the fungus before you stop the steroid completely so it prevents the rebound. Do not stop the steroid cold turkey, taper it down as you ramp up the ketoc.

ok i guess i might start experimenting with 2% ketoconazole

meanwhile for the topical steroids , took it like everyday for like the first 10 days or so and then im on a every other day use since like this week

might use it like twice or so next week before stoping it i guess ?

Yes. That taper is correct. Every other day then twice a week then stop. The ketoc is your main weapon, the steroid is just the backup while you get the fungus under control. follow the protocol and get the MCT oil.

i dont need a prescription for it ... right ?

even for the topical one ? like on skin , not oral i mean
Yes. The 2% cream is prescription. The 1% shampoo is OTC. The cream is stronger and formulated for the skin on your face. The shampoo is for your scalp and is harsher. Get the prescription for the cream from doc. Use the OTC shampoo as a face wash if you can't get the cream immediately, but it's more drying.

updating this, get a ketoconazole shampoo+ salycilic acid to completely remove the flakes. cycle with ciclopirox. find something without strong sulfates. don't leave hair wet as fungus feeds better. sea salt spray is goated for sebderm. low dose accutane mogs
