Im in a very similar boat. Originally I wanted to do radiology, but the AI risk is too real and opening your own office is maybe not too feasible.

Derm
Plastics
Ophthalmology
Gastro

They all have pros and cons, but I'm really not sure what to go with.

Yes, the AI risk is real in radiology. My dad and current radiologists are better than the most advanced AIs overall right now, but AIs are better at specific functions. That’s why I’m interested in surgery and derm, but surgery especially because I feel as if I can change more peoples’ lives for the better.

Never heard of opening your own office for Radiology. Most work is done by a practice sourcing from multiple hospitals instate or out of state. Radiologists have to be licensed in several states for this to work, and they work from home and read online a lot of the time.

I’m not interested in opthamology at all ngl
