the problem with gta is the constant portrayal of extremes, there's no subtlety or nuance to these characters. the entire world is inhabited solely by weirdos that nothing feels believable. that's why gta has always felt very dumb. every character is a cartoon, it's very lazy, cringe, and not funny at all which i'm guessing is not the intention of these millenial english major writers they've hired, but that's how it turns out. these companies can only hire based on credentials and esg requirements ie diversity, so there's no way to select for actual talent. the kind of person who is intelligent and interesting enough to create something believable would be accused of racism or sympathies to the far right. you cannot create anything of quality under these conditions
