I see these deranged incels spending an hour a day doing weird brain-training exercises, meditation routines, quitting social media, and taking nootropics or supplements, but it’s all just cope.

There are plenty of people who doomscroll and still retain high intelligence. Doomscrolling doesn’t lower your IQ; it just reduces your attention span.

Meditation helps improve attention span, not intelligence.

As for brain training, you’d have to spend at least an hour every day or every other day to see noticeable results, and it feels weird and tedious. Plus, the so-called ‘far transfer’ isn’t really proven. You only get better at tasks similar to the ones you practice, like remembering sequences of simple elements. Maybe it helps a bit with reading comprehension or conversational focus, but it doesn’t actually boost fluid intelligence or problem-solving ability. Do you think if you gave some sub 70 iq Haitian nigger some brain training exercises, that he'll be civilised? lmfao

And nootropics, it sounds dangerous as hell. You’re risking potential brain damage or other health issues for maybe a marginal, temporary increase in intelligence. The effects aren’t permanent, and you’d have to cycle them anyway. What’s even the point? The risks outweigh the benefits by far.

Training it so their attention span isn’t fucked so they can actually study topics

Honestly, probably be better off taking Mondanfil to study; it’s not an IQ-boosting thing, so it doesn’t contradict what I said. Training your attention span is pretty pointless; it’s really hard to decalcify your brain.

i would argue a 100 iq person with a good attention span and discipline would do better than a 120 iq person with poor attention span and discipline

I don't really know, I kinda disagree.

My intelligence has definitely increased since I stopped doom scrolling and started reading more.

My vocabulary has significantly increased, and it's far easier for me to articulate my sentences now.

I definitely have a better attention span as well.

I can see your point that "IQmaxing" is cope but I would argue that it's different from overall intelligence or just being smart, and I don't know how true this is but I've heard people say that IQ tests aren't legit because you can train for them, so if it was a real test of intelligence you couldn't train for it...

But yes, I'd say taking in new information definitely makes you smarter.

But buddy if you're high IQ and go to parties every weekend, also drink and smoke often you will remain high IQ through your life. You don't have to read a book, just doomscroll all day.

That's your knowledge and attention span that improved, not intelligence.

The ranges given still fall under the midwit category. Individuals with IQs 130+ typically wouldn't have low attention span and discipline, that goes against the fundamentals of being highly intelligent.

That's what intelligence is, is it not?

"Intelligence is a multifaceted mental ability to learn, reason, solve problems, and adapt to new situations."

I've improved on every single one of those recently, once again intelligence, not IQ.

We're still doing ts? :feelskek:

Knowledge and intelligence are different. Intelligence is the brain’s raw power; its short-term working memory, processing speed, and capacity to store information long-term. Knowledge, on the other hand, is what you acquire and learn using that intelligence.

I would argue that knowledge and memory are components of intelligence, rather than their own separate thing.

Nonetheless, whatever your definitions are, it's still beneficial to improve attention span, and learn new things, and get better at articulation.

and yes, I agree that there probably are some sub 70 IQ orangutans out there who probably are incapable of learning or improving, but that would be a very small percentage of the population.

Discipline, no. Attention span, no.

Well, what we can say is that if the highly intelligent individual likes something, they’ll devote their energy towards it, but if they don’t like it, their discipline and their attention crashes, this is what is seen in ADHD individuals. They can focus, but they only focus on what they like.

And slightly that the highly intelligent individual actually dedicate more brainpower when they like something.

Just my comment, I think it’s good reasoning though.

That can be said about really anyone. If you don't like something you won't expend energy or resources to continue doing it. It's human nature.

What I said can't be fully backed by anything, though there is a stronger correlation to better attention spans in higher IQ individuals when it comes to intellectually stimulating tasks. Not to say everyone with a high IQ could sit through something they don't care about, personality also plays a role.

Discipline is iffy, but I imagine someone who is very intellectual would apply discipline to everyday tasks because they understand long-term implications and benefits better.
