Im tryna improve my elo on chess.com, possibly play some tournaments in the future. Any tips on how to improve?

To start legit just keep playing
Then after awhile learn openings and remember moves and counters

tips to improve? analyse your games, always
learn one opening, black and white
the opening shouldnt be theory dense, something avant garde; like the birds opening
practice traps and theory line continuations in that opening
solve puzzles

that’s literally it though, you get better by repeating games and remembering moves lol then once you get better you remember certain moves and one opening for each

fair enough, ive heard chess is mainly about pattern recognition

Don't be afraid of playing 1+0, it will allow you to make fast decisions and consider a lot of possible moves in time scrambles so when you play longer controls, you will be able to calculate much faster and more

thanks bro, but i feel like at my level its more about who can make moves faster rather than who can make better moves, idk tho ill give it a shot

Only play rapid. You should study openings and endgames, learn more on how to play defense on black and offense on white.

Yeah, you can run the London with white and the king's Indian with black just to get to a point where you need to be playing good moves. They are easy as fuck and you can do the same few opening moves every time at low elo. The thing is you don't just wanna learn an opening by heart and that's it, you NEED to learn to play different opening if you wanna improve and have a long chess journey

Just practice opening
I'm 1700 and all I do is practice opening
