A lot of the side missions were long and full of menial tasks. Like carrying a sack for 5 minutes or walking with someone. The main story is serviceable but doesn’t have the same personal stakes as the first imo.

Oh god yes I HATE some of those quests. I actually preferred most of the quests from KCD2 but I had the same sentiment that there's really nothing to motivate Henry like there was in KCD1.

Most of the side quests are bad filler content. They should have just honed in on what made the first story great. I’m just not invested in the regional politics of Bohemia either. Why should I back Wenceslas or some random noble?

Too many missions are go to location x and speak to person y then go back half way across the map again. Why?

But Fallout NV was kind of self aware about it and the factions were properly fleshed out if you spoke to NPCs.

KCD really should have focused on Henry being a knight and bonding with Radzig imo.

KCD 2 has one especially awful side quest too. Where you drink and party with the Cumans who raided Skalitz and murdered and raped your people. Because “let go of past”, “we like you”, “prejudice bad”, “we regret it now”.
