I'm getting a house warming gift for a friend (he explicitly wanted me to choose), i always give monstera plants as they are easy and pretty and cheap considered their size, would you prefer to get

1: a mature plant (bigger leafs, more striations and holes)

2: Or a rare variegated plant (a mutation in the plant making it green mixed with white) they are more expensive and hard to find mature only cuttings or a few leafs and so forth):

TLDR: Which one looks cooler?

Second is cooler for obvious reasons, but if someone won't appreciate it it's a waste of a good gift. It takes a special kind of brain damage to enjoy caring for plants.

Investment wise the variegated plant is better as you can take cuttings and sell them for like 40-50$ a leaf, but it looks pathetic when it's that small and takes ages to grow duo to the lack of chlorophyll, whereas the mature plant already looks presentable

I know, my mother has one of them.

Men igen bror, normies tager sig ikke af fucking planter. De kommer nok bare til at lade den dø, eller tager de sig af den og se ser de den som en byrde du har pålagt dem.

For a gift you're better off with the mature plant.

Have you heard of air plants? they don't require any soil and go perfectly in bathrooms.

My plant wall creates absolute waterfalls in foids pants when they come over so I beg to differ

Whats the upkeep like on this?

For sure girls will remember you if you have something like this.
Mogs the fuck out of some basic ass canvas piece most guys have, if they have anything at all

Then give him the rarer plant. I'm not personally that interested in plants but my mum spends a shit ton on rare plants, she doesn't even show them off to anyone jfl. I think she just does it to know she has rare plants.

I have a water irrigation system so close to none, apart from a trim once in a while (which you can earn a good buck from) and a water refill. The setup is crazy expensive though (there's 300+ plants there and you need growlights, planters, damp protection, irrigation system and so forth). also i give out cuttings to some foids if they ask which definitely gives makes them remember me ;)

Plant people are crazy - me included so I totally get her, but i might give him a rare one then as it's more special and unique

Calatheas are so damn pretty but very hard to keep for beginners and the climate here sucks for it, you need growlights and humidifiers which I doubt he will commit to, monsteras are very forgiving and thrive in medium light and bad watering schedules

Oh well, highly depends on the calathea as well but in general they're harder, if you have something like a orbifolia i get it, but if you have a white fusion I'd be extremely impressed if there isn't only one leaf living after a week

If jbcollector was into plants, then he would go for the 2nd one. I don't know much about plants, but sunflowers look pretty cool tbh mostly cause they heightmog other plants.
