If he is here asking for help he is obviously nose breathing, at age 16 there's not much he can really do, mouth tape at night can help and so can bonesmashing, realistically though if it is severe at 16 he'll need surgery to fix.

I don't think you need surgery if your chin projection is at least average, but if its actually recessed just get genio or chin implants
