Anybody here looked into the functional matrix theory

been researching on the validity of the functional matrix theory(it basically says that facial development is largely determined by external factors) but its pretty unclear how much of an impact it actually has on the facial bones.
Can anybody here that has researched this more tell me if its legit?
I can link the studies if anybody's interested

as an adult none of that matters obviously but it's true that throughout development breathing chewing and tongue posture matters but that isn't external imo

obviously facial development only happens on the *develpomental* stage of life, they are external in the sense that they are not determined by genetics
