If so, was it hard? And how challenging was it on a scale of 1 to 10?

I did. It depends many higher level math topics are abstract and are very intuition and visualization based so you either understand them or ypu don't.

What does this have to with whites?

You're projecting your insecurities onto me.

I see, I was gonna take Further math, math, bio, chem and physics.

I did additional mathematics for my O levels and it did feel this way. Further math is obviously gonna be harder so yeah..

Hopefully I won't need to drop it.

Tell me the topics that are in further math in ur country. And I'll tell if it's hard or not

It doesn't matter, you can just drop it but I doubt failing it is common.

I want to aim for an A* grade across all 4

What is foundation maths like?

I only did IGCSE math, additional math and a level equivalent math so far with statistics

Nerd ass nigga

Foundation maths is the lowest form of maths like the easiest set one guys would do one's that were harder like advanced futher maths go look up Foundation maths first couple of questions you'd realise how much of a retard I am to fail that

most people i know who took regular maths were suicidal. further maths seemed fine tho, but maybe im wrong

I did A level maths and A level further maths. Further maths is not any more difficult it’s just more content. If you like maths at gcse got a 8/9 give it a shot . I wouldn’t reccomend studying maths at university though

I already took regular math, an equivalent I mean. It just seems hard but once you get it all comes together. You just need a little practice before the tests.

I see, also why not in a University?

All the best mathematicians are black

uni maths is actually a lot harder way way way harder than A-levels it’s very abstract

We don't count years here

But I am 17 and am gonna do A levels soon.

I finished an A level equivalent course for medicine but I gave up on pursuing it.

Yeah, there are several others to choose from too
i really cant answer your question bc i dont do further maths but ik a couple that do it and they dont really find it hard. they are good at maths though. i think its just a case of assessing your skill and really thinking if your good enough for it

@NoLongerHuman thoughts?
I found additional mathematics to be hell, and only clutched up during SPM getting an A-

Tbh Ive understood now maths is just consistent practice daily. Do that and it's not gonna be hard (water ik but i regret not doing this for spm jfl)

Your syllabus seems to be similar to my foundation year Mathematics I right now

I think you could just imagine it as addmaths but just a lil bit extra

The basics of abstract math was taught to me in high school itself. Uni level math was just an extension of that I do agree that it's difficult tho.

Now it makes sense why so many people drop out of math courses in the UK. Such a sudden and large knowledge gap between high school and uni level math smh @curryascenderr

I was thought this in my regular math classes wtf :lul:. I thought you were talking about advanced math like differential equations, laplace,Fourier transforms, discrete math etc.
More specific topics are done by the university itself, after A-levels

Do econ instead of physics imo. You already have a good science base and bio + chem are enough to get into medicine. Econ gives you more options imo. Maths + FM would probably get you into most engineering anyway
(I got A*AA fyi 🤓)

Nigga if your finding your maths degree easy your either euler or you go to a shit uni for maths

I was for a semester in math college, I had to quit because it was too damn difficult and the place was filled with nerds and very few girls, it was a nightmare.

It's not easy at all lmao. I took a few of them in my first year at my uni even made threads about it 1-2 years back when i was struggling in them. I just ended up with a B in most of those higher level math courses after weeks of studying. Even if you are sone kind of math prodigy you will need to put in work.

Differential equations and forier and laplace is some of the easier maths at uni. Give it a rest lad we all know American teaching standards are behind excluding MIT/harvard etc

Not really. Solving the equations itself isn't too difficult. It's the real world application and forming the equations that is difficult. Partial Diff. Eqs. gets pretty hard once you get into the proofs and abstract concepts aswell.

Also you can't compare courses like that since some of them are made to be more difficult than at other schools because the lecturers are being anal about it. Calculus 2 and 3 were easier for me than differential equations despite the common notion that calculus being harder.

You’re not gonna do all 5, you’ll prolly end up dropping 2 and wasting your time.

My biggest regret was taking math, physics and chem all to end up in the same place as people who did math, physics and some bs a level like fm or econ.

Doing 5 is the norm here

Bio, chem, phys, math and then one extra

Even if 5 is the norm, switch out the sciences you don’t need for something easier. It makes you a well rounded individual

Alright, I see

I'll just do what's required then and then switch the extras for easy passes. Thanks
