Anyone else hate when their friends succeed ?

I just can’t help it though, even when it’s someone I actually really like I get mad if I hear they got a gf or some cool internship etc

Obviously this is out of jealousy not because I dislike them but it still pisses me off

The only reason I joined my college grinded this hard for my job and be as cracked as possible at my job is out of pure jealousy for people around me. I can't tolerate people being better than me. It's like burning fire whenever someone does better than me

I love my friends but I can't stand seeing anyone outperform me even if they earned it. I don't hold resentment towards them for it but it's annoying nonetheless. I don't think it's irrational though, it's our life, naturally we want to be the ones who succeed.

I wish, I’m graduating in a year with a 3.5 and one mediocre internship. But even if I had grinded all 3 years I’m not smart enough to be a quant

I’d like to think I’m not a complete idiot, my best achievement is probably getting an A in calc 2. But those dudes are a different breed

It’s debatable if it’s a target but I’d say so, an elite uni at the least.

although most kids in my business school out networked me. And I have a bad reputation among some of my peers so the connections from my school probably won’t amount to anything

Very big difference between being jealous and taking action about it. I doubt I’d ever take betraying actions against someone I actually liked even if in my head I was cursing at them

But if it was someone who I didn’t like but was a “friend” by title I probably would

Only way I’d do this is if I absolutely hate the guy (but then I doubt we’d be friends) or if I wanted the girl to myself or something

Once I actually tried it because of that. In freshman year of high school my crush was into one of my friends so I just intentionally made up weird shit about her so he’d reject her

Yeah I’m sorta in a slump right now, but I’m not too worried

Definitely less concerned than I used to be about careers, networking, internships, clubs etc for better or worse but I’ve definitely been way less stressed which is super nice. I think I’m just gonna play it by ear as time goes on

Obviously if years from now I haven’t done shit and I’m broke I’ll have to do something I don’t like but I have some hope
