They where at the nearby rainforest park and i faked being sick, took the car and drove 40 minutes to La fortuna where i went under for the operation.

When my parents contacted me on where i was i made up an elaborate lie that i found my friend staying at a massive resort from "snap map" and that i want to stay with him.

I was 17 at the time and my parents have never really been strict so they let me go through with it.

I stayed in a motel for 3 weeks recovering.
