Anyone live in Mongolia? I’m thinking about going there and buying a horse to ride across the country

The first step will be learning how to ride a horse. Should only take about a week. Then I will have to purchase 2 horses. Why 2 horses? The second one will carry my gear. I’m guessing each horse will cost about $250 so not too bad.

I will have to wait until June I’m guessing because it’s still very cold in Mongolia. Maybe I’ll go to Korea before that and finally bike across the peninsula.

Come back to this post in few months when I’m riding across Mongolia on a nameless horse

Mongolians are very nice people. Especially outside of ulaanbaatar. I heard they will let me stay in their huts as I travel. But I’ll have a tent for when I’m in the wild. Hopefully wolves don’t kill my horses while sleeping

Really you’ve rode across Mongolia on horse? How was it?

I’ll prob spend a few days or week in ulaanbaatar before I start my trip. I know a cute Mongolian girl that works at the Hard Rock Cafe there xD

Here’s pic of her

Yes, Mongolia is one of the few Asian countries left untouched by Westerners. Keeps your black ass out of there.

Apparently motor cycle tours of Mongolia are pretty popular that are multiple companies that offer them. Riding a horse across Mongolia sounds naive. A large part of Ewan Mcgregor's Long way round was in Mongolia

Belarus is a better option. There are many native horse breeds. the Mongolia of the past is no more. But the Belarus of the past is forever--even in the present, and surely into the future.

If you don't know what you are doing then you could possibly wander off into one of the most dangerous deserts in the world and fucking die.

This. Alex needs to be careful here. He could make it across Mongolia on horseback, but he'll need to plan extremely well.

I respect his adventurous spirit, but he needs to proceed with caution if he wishes to complete this endeavour and not become buzzard food.

curious as to how you can afford this expedition
It’s not really expensive. If I bought two horses, it would be $500 max. Then it’s like $80 a day for training and I’d do maybe 5 days. Then I would rent gear so prob $100 max. Then I would just go to grocery store and buy some food. Maybe the flight from Korea to Mongolia is about $300

Mongolians don’t name their horses because they don’t want their souls to be bound to this earth

I’ve made up my mind @Magical Apple @Thompsonz @Collagen or rope @DivineBeing @Vermilioncore @ropemax . I will venture to Mongolia in June, buy 2 Mongolian horses, learn how to ride a horse, and travel across the country. I may die. I may get eaten by wolves. My horses may run away at night. But I will do it.

Worthless investment. I'd only do such things if I wished to live among them for years.

Then again, I have ASD-related attachment.
