the university is where you make many connections, and many businesses only take resumes from certain schools. additionally, your school has a career center for the SOLE PURPOSE of helping you out with your resume and trying to help you get a job after school. 88% of millionaires went to college. college is EASILY the best way to make money, anyone telling you otherwise is con artist or stupid. unless youre doing a trade or military(where the vast majority people go just for the gi bill, to have free college), go to fucking college

Not everyone are smart enough to go to college, sure if you're some 100 IQ average guy MAYBE you could grind it out, but you would have to put insane amounts of effort into it and burn yourself out, and then when you enter the white collar workforce you will be in the bottom half in terms of performance and the first one to be fired in difficult times. For the average guy, trades is better.

If you're planning to become an employee, yes, getting a college degree is useful because employers make it a condition of employment, more often than not. But it also depends on what degree you have and generally speaking, degrees don't carry as much prestige as they used to because far more people have them now. So they're not going to guarantee you a high paying job the way they would have, back in the days.
Back in the 1990s, for example, it was far rarer to meet people with degrees, so they were far more valued by employers at the time.

Also, if you plan on becoming self-employed, running your own business etc., then you don't need a degree. Most rich people work for themselves. So it depends, really.

If your parents aren't paying for it, it's a waste of time (only exceptions are if you're trying to get into medicine/law/engineering; or you're going purely to party and slay ect while parents pay tuition and rent)

I've never been asked for proof of my degree, you can just LARP then apply to work at some startup who cba to screen your credentials. To do this though, you have to be mentally sharp and able to back it up with bullshit when the interviewers ask you questions. That being said, most autists here will probably crumble when being scrutinized

dont see the point here unless youre so rich that it doesnt matter if you try or not, in the real world college major, gpa, clubs, school all matter. of course your humanities majors are mostly memes but no one here is talking about that.

what kind of shit hole job has never asked for accreditation? mcdonalds?

every bank and financial institution i applied to had requirements for studying at a 4 year undergraduate school, this is a screenshot from an internship i applied to

Of course they require a degree in the job specification

What I meant was that they don't verify, they just take your word for it. I've never been asked to prove my degree with a certificate. I've applied to finance companies too but it was through a recruiter who knew my credentials, however, the recruiting company did not ask me for proof. I could've easily lied.

Every other company / field I have worked in have never asked for proof either

You'd be surprised at how many companies believe your word at face value. Maybe they think people are too high inhb to lie

Lol i do this, i straight up lie about my GPA on my resume and photoshop my transcript if they need me to upload it. youre right, theyre not expecting people to absolutely abuse a high trust system

People who attend prestigious schools typically already had money, status, and intelligence from birth, which is what matters most in this context.

college is the biggest waste of 4 years of ur time possible

all of the connections u can get thru other means, the actual events at college dont help with shit. ur connections are just ur friends.

u also literally nothing useful in a college degree, 90% goes out the drain as soon as u get a job and the remaining 10% is stuff most ppl already knew before entering the degree program.

Having a College Degree means you managed to make it through 4 years of school and not flunk out.

It's an antiquated system and kids are being taught less and less that you "need to go to college". Welders make $70 an hour.

That said I have a college degree.

Yes, college is great if you're smart and pick a decent major. If you're one of those people that is mentally incapable and keeps switching majors because each one is too hard, and end up in psychology or English, it's over.

you have to be incredibly retarded to grow up in the west and not get a cushy office job
yes yes there are other ways to make money etc. but none as easy as just going to uni, not to mention the opportunities it provides for socializing + the general domain knowledge you get exposed to as well (that's basically a prerequisite for all the entrepreneur copers here saying college dropouts became millionaires, those college dropouts had tons of exposure to the fields they eventually succeeded in before their success)

you had internships which surely gave you a bit of exposure + a degree that has a name/weight to it
without those, your endeavors would be more difficult to accomplish - that's my point
uni is the path of least resistance towards relative financial success

you are a CS graduate correct? how would you describe your experience as a CS major? i hate maths but i can do it with enough practice and shit, but i also always hated STEM shit (although i liked computers) and i am considering something IT related. i wanted to major in english first since I liked literature and writing but I felt like I'd be pigeonholed to working as an english teacher in east asia for minimum pay so I wanted something better

i'd really appreciate it if you dish out some quick advice

only some classes later on were difficult but manageable because my friends had older siblings etc. who had the previous exams which made things easier (since even 10-20% of an exam being recycled from years prior gives you extra time to do the rest of it)
overall not that bad, if you can survive the first year and a half you can easily get past the rest, just make friends, doing any sort of engineering alone/without a group of people to share assignments/previous exams/projects/etc. with is brutal

just wanted to explain why hes a schizo and college is a scam

if you did arbitrage work like dropshipping businesses or reselling empires and put the same effort you'd earn more than a harvard econ grad given the opportunity cost

But he likes to larp as one by enticing others to get debt and wageslave their life away

i managed to wageslave for 6 months now already at the end of my nerves haha

not a good decision for anyone youll end up subhuman with no house no net worth no friends no respect no status nothing

not good decision nowadays tbh
