anyone try non stim adhd meds?

so i tried to get addy prescribed but the psychiatrist said shell first start me on Guanfacine since my teachers scored low on my nichq vanderbilt assessment scale.
There giving me some time to test it out before we determine if it works or not than then theyll maybe give me adderall.
Are these even worth trying lol? or should I just throw them out.
