Apparently Androgen Receptor Density is inherited from the mother.

I was watching some Peter Attia and he was talking about Androgen Receptor (AR) density and how it effects different men's results from taking exogeneous testosterone. He was saying how we what call "high responders", are those who stand to gain much when taking higher doses because their higher androgen receptor density expects higher test levels from their body. So if one has low receptor density, they can be perfectly happy at a lower testosterone level (ex: 400ng/dl).

What's more interesting though is that the AR density is inherited through the X chromosome which is apparently strictly inherited through the mother. This means a son's future athletic performance or strength can more clearly be solved for by figuring out those genes from the mom. Another example is the inheritance of the mitochondria, which is strictly from the mother. So basically it's over for you if your mom had bad genes or bad epigenetics and didn't exercise.

This raises the question of what other traits can we find to more accurately find what our "failos" are and which ones we should see as a sunk cost and not worry about, and which failos we should focus on as there could be a lot to get by fixing it.

Thoughts?

cite a study
The AR gene is expressed on the X chromosome. Daughters can inherit this from mom or dad, but sons can only inherit it from their mom.

https://omim.org/entry/313700#:~:text=The%20gene%20encoding,syndrome%20(312300).

My citation is above. This likely explains how many athletic phenoms weren't always as successful as their fathers despite top level coaching. The only exceptions to this are when the mom has a history in athletics or that sport. Examples: Max Verstappen (gokarting mom), Bronny James (unathletic mom), Stephen Curry (athletic D1 mom), Noah Lyles (athletic mom)...

All I'm saying is if you're dating a girl, and she isn't somewhat athletic, it might be over for your son since you won't know if he'll respond to androgens well or not.

interesting. i wouldnt say my mother is athletic in any way shape or form but she was never close to fat and goes to the gym from time to time, and my athleticism is in the top percentiles. that being said i have been doing sports and training since the age of 9. i can run a sub 35 minute 10km, which is in the top 1%, and im not even a runner, i just do it as cardiovascular training. maybe the study can be a bit skewed depending on how early you would start training

Lowkey mad insightful. This is completely anecdotal but I remember reading somewhere that a large part of a mans cognitive ability, especially with regards to maths is inherited from the mother. I’m so glad my dad didn’t marry a retard 🥰

Knew that and thats the reason why you choose a gym mommy over an emo foid

I’m athletic too and have been in sports basically since I was born. My mom never did sports and while she had some athletic genes, she definitely doesn’t have any androgen activity. In my case that made it where I was suddenly a step behind everyone when we all hit puberty even though I feel and generally look fine.

You’ve got w endurance tho

yeah i get you completely, were in the same boat in terms of mothers, although our outcomes do differ. in my sport and athletic ability ive always been in the extremely high percentiles. taking the sport skills out of equation, in my sport im for sure in the highest echelons of athleticism, for athletes in general, id put myself anywhere in the top 20-15% of professional athletes. i may have just gotten lucky in the gene pool but coming from sub par genetics ive definitely gone above and beyond what was promised
