Okay I will be real here, but from a mathematical perspective having a niche appeal has more advantages over having mass appeal. Say we take your typical skinny pretty boy vs the roided out ogre.

On a real level, the prettyboy is far more common and more women like him. Despite his net being wider, he has far more competition.

Now take the ogre, a niche subset of women are really into his look, but ogres of that sort aren't common. As a result he is having less stiff competition, thus improving his sexual success. I forgot where the study is, but there was a study done and it showed the more muscular a man, the greater his bodycount and that when women are drunk they prefer more muscular men, LTR qualities drastically drop.

Niche is something little explored in this forum.

A big advantage of having niche appeal is that you don't necessarily need a good face, women with fetishes on very tall guys are an example.
