zero gaming capabilities to waste time autism maxing

aesthetic and syncs with iphone

fast as fuck for what you get. very productive

conveys status while not even being a fraction of the price of a good gaming computer

Buy a MacBook, and then hook it up to a tv

I would never consider the macbook, especially not the latest one

My wallet won't be able to take it

I think the entry level mac mini is just fine

yeah that's a great device cuz you can upgrade the storage yourself and you can get it on student discount. problem is needing to buy display, mouse, usb expansion, keyboard, etc.

any of thy macbooks that have more than 8gb ram are at least 900

Buying the other parts myself isn't that big of a deal to me

I'd rather spend that extra money on a leopold mechanical keyboard and some ergo mouse than use the apple ones

i don't have the apple ones either. v they're an expensive joke and no mouse is better than the 7 dollar logitech ones from 2017

display though i'm very picky about those especially since seeing the one on mbp 16. you need to spend at least 200 for something comparable

Display is by far the most important thing

I can actually do with a cheap keyboard / mouse

But the display has to be personalised

Some fuckers need that super horizontally long one for stock market stuff and some guys want some super HD thing

Apple screen doesn't quite cut it

i've never used the apple stand alone displays. they're double the industry standard in price and iic low refresh. i need accurate colors, 120+ hz refresh and at least 1440p. back 3 and a half years ago when i bought my macbook pro 16 m1, the average price for a comparable display was 300+

While Macs are a rip off in terms of performance, the build quality is exceptional.
They are like the BMWs of the computing world.

They're not, you can edit videos on a fanless computer that has a 18 hour battery.

find a single windows shit that can do that.

only dedicated integrated graphics cards can mog apple

That's the nub of it. At least from my perspective.
I do a lot of coding and work with graphics so a Mac is just a non starter for me.

Mac M series processors have GPUs that mog dude.

Coding requires close to zero GPU btw. And if you are trying to use integrated graphics you are shelling out an excessive amount in the current market, or your'e stuck with garbage laptops that last 1 hour

Machine Learning. Cuda.
Also the CPU, the silicon chip has shit compatibility with a lot of other programs I use.

Far less than an apple computer. I am always close to the mains so battery life is less of an issue for me.

Are you sure? Have you seen cinabench performance tests between gaming rigs with top tier intel processors (285K ultra) which is arguably better than AMD at non-gaming tasks get absolutely smoked by the M4 pro chip?

I’ve just seen your other remark on the fact that you use graphics a lot, but i’m pretty sure that the flagship m4 pro chip is surprisingly good. Not to the level of a 5090 but impressive regardless.

I haven't seen the latest benchmark tests.
I don't have any issues with Mac hardware; I've always thought it's top rate.
The big issue for me has always been compatibility.

Yes, apple does have a bad habit of locking their users out of other platforms and compatibility amongst platforms. A shame, considering how good their devices have been getting recently.

It's a waste of great hardware. Powerful and great longevity.
Meanwhile, my PC's SSD stopped working less than a year after purchase.

Yeah to status and asthetic max ur 100% right. It’s the best laptop u can get.

But for actual use I can’t use it no matter how hard I try, it’s so difficult to adjust since I’ve been using windows since I was like 4

Thats unfortunate, was it SATA or M.2?

In my case I’m surprised my 3 SATA SSDs plugged into the motherboard and PSU which are barely fitted above my PSU, amongst a mess of cables, are still running strong after some years. Maybe SATA SSDs are more durable?

SATA in fact. I was unlucky though. I never had an issue with my old PC.
It was probably just a defective component but this happens far less frequently with Macs.

Likely just a defective product, yes.

Considering how high the price / performance of Macs is relative to windows systems, they sort of are expected to provide a good quality product, but I’m glad they deliver regardless.

you are working on a very specific x86 infrastructure, ofc Mac will never be compatible, but i think Mac literally mogs Windows for the dollar at nearly every single workflow

Macs, Linux and Windows operate nearly identically, I didn't start using a Mac until 2021. The adjustment took less than a month
