it's a lot more competitive than it used to be, and keeps getting more and more competitive year by year

back in my day, Harvard had like a 6 to 7% acceptance rate, now they are at a 3.5% acceptance rate

back in my day, going to NYU costed $60,000, now it costs fucking $90,000 a year

fuck em

I went to community college for a while actually

like in between my bachelor's and master's since I needed a few extra classes to qualify for the master's

the quality of education is actually really good there and much easier to get a high gpa

only problem is, when it's time to apply for internships and stuff in your junior year, once you're at a university, you won't have a gpa, since your community college gpa doesn't transfer over

you won't have the easy classes boosting your gpa for jobs and internships if you start at a community college

Yes and the job market is getting more competitive too. This is globalization guys. It's not just the working class getting fucked by cheap external competition, students have to compete against all these foreigners who have no lives and work day and night to academic-mog you. Globalization means you compete not only with the smart people in your country for the best schools and jobs, but against all the smart people in the world who flee towards top economies.

Thoughts on this?

if you want to go into accounting or nursing, you can easily achieve a good job by going to a state school '

if you're aiming to go into investment banking, management consulting, or tech, it's very very difficult

you basically need to go to a prestigious school for those fields, and they are way too fucking hard to get into

glad I graduated already with 2 degrees

I feel like I'm the educational equivalent of the lucky generation of younger Gen X and older millenials who managed to get married before hypergamy went insane in the late 2000s-2010s

Why is USA Uni so expensive wtf

Why is USA Uni so expensive wtf

they're greedy

plus subsidized by loans, so the universities can charge as much as they want

basically they have a monopoly on the only way to get a good job (that doesn't involve hard labor)

Have you seen their insane campuses, insane facilities, incredibly professionalized sports teams etc. Need a lot of money for that shit. They put EU campuses to absolute shame

I went (on a date) to the University of Antioquia in Colombia and their facilities look just like an American high school

and people don't live on campus

In the uk it’s the same shit here

No it's not JFL. It's not even comparable. I've been to both.

An American campus will be massive, have multiple massive gyms, 5+ olympic swimming pools, integrated health clinics, stadiums with 10k+ capacity, 10+ libraries, 15+ restaurants, cafeterias, sculpture gardens, 10+ basketball courts, 6 soccers pitches etc etc etc, dedicated gyms and fields for sports teams only. 15 buildings of student housing. The scale of these things is mind-blowing they're villages basically.

They will have stadiums for their own sports teams on campus JFL.

It doesn't come anywhere close.

My uni had the same thing sure not to the same level as in only 2 swimming pools 2 gyms had a lot of fast food chains like subway costa etc there on premises but didn’t have its own health etc and a lot of playgrounds for sports.

Still doesn’t make sense as to why Usa Unis cost so kuxh

Wtf do you mean your GPA doesn't transfer over, it's literally apart of their admissions process JFL

depends on what you're studying. anything in the humanities is basically indoctrination by people who lack the intellectual qualifications to teach special ed

Your GPA starts all over again for most colleges

And by the time you get in, it’ll be harder classes since you’re a junior

I went from a 3.85 gpa to a 2.8 gpa when I transferred colleges
