Approaching ugly girls should not make you less nervous than approaching GL women

I've never approached an ugly/unattractive girl

A mid MTB yes, often by accident since I saw maybe only one side of their face and then it's too late to back out of the approach

I mean noticeably below avg girls not girls in the avg range with makeup.

Those girls know they are not attractive, they know their friends etc are all better looking even with SIMPs and thousands of matches on apps.

Approaching an unattractive girl would be awkward and disingenuous AF, and would make me way for nervous than approaching GL woman, which is normal to be attracted to.
