Between us lot based on this forum: I think it's a play on the system: if a male refugee manages to make it to safety there - they can get citizenship eventually and send for families/wives/children etc - so it makes more sense for the male to try the journey first as imagine only having 5k to pay a human trafficker - right - if you send a woman - on her own - what if she gets attacked by another refugee on the journey? A man can defend himself better - whereas if it was a woman and a man it would cost double to get there so 10k instead of 5k and maybe 5k takes years to save up - why not send the man get citizenship then send for his family?

I think ultimately: the system is to blame for being soft.

When the syrian crisis happened germanys gov tried to conduct a background check at the border and they found that out of 10 people atleast 8 werent of syrian origin but of countries where they didnt declare "war crisis" status
