Are abs workout important or just bodyfat?

I’m back in the gym and considering adding ab training on leg day. I’ve heard that you don’t need to train abs just lower your body fat but wouldn’t training abs make them more visible even at slightly higher body fat, compared to if you didn’t train them at all? Or is it really just about being lean enough?

Also, do you have a short, simple ab workout you recommend? My gym is small, so I’d prefer something that doesn’t require a lot of equipment.

weighted ab training with calorie deficit is how you get your abs to pop

definitely train them if you want them more defined. some can be lean and still not have a developed core

all you need is leg raises (lower abs) (just need a bar) and cable crunches for upper abs ( just need a cable and a rope or attatchment similar of some sort)
