Are americans bad in geography of their own country?

Do you think I could ask an average american where New york, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Miami are and they could not know about it?

Like for example I go to alabama and ask people where is san francisco or los angeles do you think many would not recognize?

I see those videos aswell, typicly they are dumb, out of education, or intoxicated.

Most of my classmates would be able to label an American map, and a good amount of countries in the rest of the world.

I might be a bit bias due to living in America though.

I doubt people that are not located in California would be able to point it out, but they would probably know what state it's in.

Theres lots of states ngl but being american and not knowing about major cities of your own country is weird unless youre living isolated in appalchian mountains or something aha, and even those people probably know about los angeles and san francisco
