Are braces the only option for fixing overbite?

I'm still in puberty (13m) and I'm not allowed to get braces, it's not much of a problem for me but can mewing & chewing hard foods help my overbite? My overbite isn't severe but not slight either
 
they will remove some of your teeth (depending on how bad the malocclusion is) and they will make you wear elastics

Idk bones are probably less malleable at that age so I guess it would be different

ive seen some posts where guys had to wear elastics when they were 16-18 and it didnt cause them any kind of recession

my doctor recently told me to wear elastics but im not doing it tbh

it did, its literally what elastics do. And after 18 it becomes harder to solve it
