They're historically inspired by the nephelim so you're not far off. Joseph Grimaldi, the creator of modern clowns, modeled them after demon art he saw in pakistan. Was also a freemason.

Interesting but where’d you get that from??? I did a very quick research and none of the claims you’ve said were correct according to search results and chatbots. Got any videos or whatever?

My bad I mixed up grimaldi with another circus occult guy, Charles Dibdin Jr., who actually was the one that got Grimaldi to do the new clown style. Ringling brothers and Barnum and Bailey were all freemasons and later associates of these groups as well.

I'm not sure how sold I am on the theory but it's pretty amusing. Here's a good video on it:
