not necessarily safer, fat is much more unpredictable than fillers, fat grafting could potentially lead to lumps or bumps, it all depends on whether your body accepts the fat transfer process and doesn't react. If you get a bad outcome with fat transfer, which is possible due to the unpredictable nature of fat, it will be very difficult correcting it. Whereas for fillers like restylane and voluma made with hyaluronic acid, could always be dissolved using an enzyme. The risk for fillers is blindness, which scares people, however only 68 cases have been reported, considering how much plastic surgeons are injecting dermal fillers, probability is extremely low. As for implants, it is a good long term solution, however as you age, your under eye area, will undergo bone erosion and fat loss, leading to the possibility of the implant ridges and borders being visible. Fillers such as restylane which last anywhere from 9-12 months, seem to be a good option, if you want to fill out under eye hollows/tear trough, result is malleable and customizable to your specific face.
