In regards to economics. It technically is a first world country mogs most of Europe. Has a technological edge in certain areas. In terms of purchasing power it is still behind the dollar and pound and some parts of Europe using euros.
They have had a stagnant economy for the past four decades. It's pretty brutal. It's just getting worse as well. It's worse than the UK and I love criticising the UK. GDP per capita was nearly 50k in 2011 and now it's 33k. Brutal shit.
