Sub 5 means below average, e.g hltn. Sub 3 refers to the PSL scale where 4 is the average (technically goes to 10 as well but 8+ is unachievable) or it can just mean sub 3/10 which is truly cooked

Sub 5 is a category and ltn is a rank. LTN is in sub 5. Sub 5 is not under ltn nor above ltn. What you are refering to is probably subhuman, not sub 5.
