New York, January 15: Recent findings indicate that the men might be more evolved than the women. New research indicates that the Y chromosome has evolved much faster than the rest of the genetic code. Y chromosome is the main male chromosome. So this indicates that the men are more evolved than the women.
The first actual comparison of the male chromosomes of humans and chimpanzees has revealed considerable differences between the two, which is a lot more than what the scientists expected. The Y chromosome contains about two per cent of the DNA in a human cell. Men carry one X chromosome and one Y, whereas the women have two Xs chromosomes and none of the Y chromosome. This revolutionary study had been based on the genes of humans and chimpanzees, which are our nearest kin in the ape family. The difference between the two had been thoroughly analyzed and studied, and it had been found that the Y-chromosomes of the two registered a 30% difference. The difference is about 2% more than that registered between the other genes of the two species.
However though the Y chromosome is evolving but the men have little to rejoice about. Because the lead author Jennifer Hughes says that, “Just because the Y chromosome, which determines gender, is evolving at a speedy rate it doesn’t necessarily mean men.
